Cumulus Broadcasting Flint is looking for Interns
Cumulus Broadcasting in Flint, MI owner and operator of 5 stations (Z92.7 WDZZ-FM, CK-105.5 WWCK-FM, Super talk 1570 WWCK-AM, B95 WFBE-FM and WTRX) offers non-salaried internship programs designed to give hands-on experience at a commercial radio station with the goal of exposing the individual to all aspects of radio. Areas covered include promotions, marketing, public relations, special event management, programming, and sales-related activities.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, energetic, and dependable individual with a great attitude and good communication skills, who is willing to take the time and energy necessary to learn the inner workings of a radio station. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is essential, as well as the confidence to work with and interact with Cumulus Broadcasting Flint staff, clients, advertisers, event promoters, and listeners. Students must be receiving college credit for the internship and are expected to work 25-30 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks. Interns will need transportation to get to and from events while interning for the radio station.

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Represent Cumulus Broadcasting Flint in a public relations capacity at station events, including street festivals, Cumulus Broadcasting Flint concerts, broadcasts, sales promotions, etc.
Organizing, preparing, coordinating, and executing promotional events for WWCK-FM&AM. WFBE-FM, WTRX-AM and WDZZ.
Interacting with listeners on a day-to-day basis whether it be fulfilling contest prizes, answering questions, etc.
Brainstorm new ideas for the radio station, its clients, and advertisers.
Monitor the inventory of station promotional items such as banners, t-shirts, stickers, hats and etc.

Responsibilities include: prospecting/cold calling, setting appointments with prospects, creative client presentations, and achieving a sales quota. Because Cumulus has a systems approach to sales, you must have a deep appreciation for process, performance measurement, employee development, and a results-oriented sales approach.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• New business to business experience preferred with recognition as top-performer
• Minimum of 1 year outside sales experience required; 2 or more years preferred with ability to penetrate new business categories
• Strong understanding of lead generation, CRM and account management
• Cultivation of long standing client relationships
• Media sales background preferred, not required
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet/Intranet)
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
