I started grooming dogs during my first year of college. I wanted a job to give me experience working with animals which would help get me into Michigan State’s veterinarian program. I started working at a boarding kennel in Grand Blanc; cleaning cages and runs, and exercising and feeding the cats and dogs. Luckily the owner needed another groomer for her shop so she offered to take me on as an apprentice. I realized I had a knack for it and I loved doing it. I never did make it to vet school. Instead, I opened my own shop about three years later and have never regretted it! I’ve been in business for over 18 years and it has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. Over the years I co-owned a large boarding kennel and groom shop with capacity to board 50+ dogs, but I currently have a home based shop while my husband and I are raising our 2 young boys.
